Trusts are a legal arrangement by which legal title or ownership of property is separated from the beneficial use of the property. The legal title to the property in a trust vests in the trustee (the legal owner), but the person or persons entitled to the use or benefit of the property in the trust are called beneficiaries. There are numerous types of trusts, and there are numerous factors to consider in determining whether a trust might be beneficial to a person or might help a person with his or her financial or estate planning.
